Colorado Ranch Vacation at Sundance Trail Guest Ranch

Our summer family dude ranch vacation lifestyle can be compared to summer camp, with activities and adventures shared together by the whole family. We can get pretty dirty during the day, but enjoy modern bathrooms and clean warm beds at night!

Families generally start their ranch vacations here on Sunday afternoon, and stay until the following Saturday afternoon; seven days and six nights. We can often make a shorter four-day three-night dude ranch vacation option available; where folks arrive on Sunday afternoon and depart Wednesday afternoon, or arrive on Wednesday afternoon and depart Saturday afternoon.

Our summer guest ranch schedule includes structured activities every couple of hours, mixed with unstructured time to explore, do your own activities, or relax. All structured activities are optional – this is your family vacation – you might enjoy doing nothing for a couple of hours!

The flavor is definitely “Colorado horse back riding.” Our ranch vacation riding program can be intense if you want, and is always flexible. We ride every day.

Other Activities

Throughout the week we enjoy lots of other dude ranch vacation activities;

  • hiking,
  • white water rafting
  • professional rock climbing lessons,
  • fun family fishing in nearby lakes (cutthroat trout),
  • serious fly fishing on the nearby “Wild and Scenic” Cache La Poudre River (rainbow & brown trout),
  • horse shoes,
  • target and trap shooting (with instruction and careful supervision!),
  • evening campfires (s’mores!),
  • cowboy singing and poetry,
  • professional massage and Jacuzzi,
  • or enjoying a book on a sunny porch

Our children’s’ programming compliments family activities. You will never hear your child complaining of being bored!

In many ways we are very similar to our neighbor Colorado dude ranches. None of us have acres and acres of parking lots, endless lines, or huge crowds. At the same time, each ranch is just a bit different, usually reflecting the values of the owner family or the unique aspects of its geography.
